Folic acid, or vitamin B9, is a vital vitamin for women health that may help lower your baby's risk of other defects as well, such as cleft lip, cleft palate, and certain types of heart defects. It may also reduce your risk of preeclampsia. Folic acid is recommended for women during pregnancy, breastfeeding, as well as women planning a pregnancy. It is very useful for your skin and mucous membranes, and in combination with vitamins B12, B6 and B2 stimulates the hemoglobin synthesis and red blood cell formation. Vitamin B2 positively affects the thyroid gland and is useful for people suffering from poor ecology and iodine deficiency.
